BJP leaders reach Rashtrapati Bhavan on Ramdev issue

New Delhi, June 6 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have arrived Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and demand the convening of an emergency session of Parliament to discuss the crackdown on yoga guru Baba Ramdev.

 

BJP leaders are likely to present a memorandum protesting against the government and police action on Baba Ramdev.

 

Party sources said the BJP would also air their concerns on black money and corruption.

 

Earlier, led by president Nitin Gadkari and senior leader L.K. Advani, BJP leaders and activists staged a protest at Rajghat on Sunday night.

 

Apart from Advani and Gadkari, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, her counterpart in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, former party president Rajnath Singh, Prakash Javadekar and Ravi Shankar Prasad were present at the Rajghat

 

Baba Ramdev was on a hunger strike against corruption along with 65,000 followers when the police, on the government's orders, decided to dismantle the elaborate camp that had been set up at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.

 

The Baba was caught dressed as a woman while heading away from the camp towards the railway station.

 

A special plane took him to Dehradun and from there, he was taken to his comply on the outskirts of Haridwar by road. He continues with his fast-unto death. (ANI)
