London, June 4(ANI): England manager Fabio Capello has said that his players are training hard for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland today at Wembley to ensure that the Three Lions stays top of Group G.
England's victory over Wales in March had put them back on top of Group G, and in pole position to secure a place for next year's finals in Poland and Ukraine.
"If we qualify for the Euros, I want the players to go on holiday for a minimum of 10 days before rejoining the squad. I think they spend a lot of mental energy, not only physical energy, during the season," The Daily Mirror quoted Capello, as saying.
"They had a week off, apart from Rio Ferdinand, and they have started to train like they were children wanting to play. They were really happy. This is really, really important, them being so happy," he added.
Capello further said that he has learnt a lot from last year's World Cup disaster.
"I hope, in front of 90,000 fans, we play a good game, win and qualify. We did really well in World Cup qualification, but we didn't play well in South Africa. The most important thing is to win trophies," he said. (ANI)
