Lucknow, June 3 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari has said that the party has always been in favour of people-oriented policies and governance for the welfare of the society.

Speaking on the sidelines of a national executive level meeting here, Gadkari aid there have been numerous shortcomings in the current political leadership as it is power oriented rather than being welfare oriented.

"There have been a lot of falls in the political leadership of the country. It is not a good thing as per democracy. Power politics is a major part in politics. We are often trying to bring the issues of welfare of the society and state to the forefront of politics," he added.

Meanwhile, senior party leader and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Murli Manohar Joshi said the government could have stopped the telecom scam if it would had acted rightly at the right time.

"The Prime Minister and others would have understood why it is being done, when there was Cabinet decision on October 2010 that the pressing will be determined by conjunction by the ministry of higher ends jointly. It is not that, just go and have a consultation. It has to be decidedly jointly," he added. (ANI)
