Indian Judokas shine in Commonwealth C'ship

The members of the senior Indian judo team gave good account of themselves as they won the team championships at the Commonwealth Judo Championship held from January 24-27 in Mauritius.

According to the information reaching here, the judokas claimed seven gold, two silver and five bronze medals in the senior category. In addition, the upcoming judo players of the country also brought laurels for the nation as the junior team finished as runners-up in the junior category.

The junior cadets pocketed six medals in all including four gold and a lone silver and bronze medal in the five-day event.

Farman slams unbeaten ton

A fine unbeaten century struck by Farman Ahmed (112 n.o) helped Chand Khanna ckub beat Ravi Brothers by nine wickets in the DDCA Super Plate group. Rohtak Road Gymkhana, Dena Bank and Patel Nagar colts also won their respective matches.

Brief scores: Ravi Bros 160 all out in 33.5 overs (Mohit Kaushal 46) lost to Chand Khanna 161/1 in 13.5 overs (Farman Ahmed 112 n.o).

Shiv, Sumit shine for RCA

A fine half-century by Shiv Pasricha and a three-wicket haul by Shubhit Kumar (3/26) guided RCA Academy to beat St Columba's School by 58 runs to earn two points in the 2nd Modern under-15 cricket tournament.

Brief scores: RCA 146 all out in 28 overs (Shiv Pasricha 50; Shubhit Kumar 3/26) bt St. Columba's 88 all out in 19 overs (Sumit 3/14).

Asif’s fine all-round performance

A fine all-round display by Asif Shah (40 runs and 2/15) helped RK Academy beat Mukh Ram Bhoria by 68 runs in the league match of the Titiksha under-16 cricket tournament.

Brief scores: RK Academy 197 for 9 in 20 overs (Asif Shah 40) bt MRB Academy 129 all out in 19 overs (Mehtab Ali 25; Asif Shah 2/15).

Rohit guides IA in Sahibzada final

A fine knock by Rohit Prakash (79) aided his team Indian Airlines to beat Ravindra Cricket Academy by 45 runs to enter the final of the 12th Sahibzada Ajit Singh cricket tournament.

Brief scores: Indian Airlines 242 in 40 overs (Rohit Prakash 79; Ashish Yadav 2/27) bt Ravindra Cricket Academy 197 for 5 in 40 overs (Chetan Bisht 64 n.o; Subhash Chaudhary 2/26).
Dinesh shines for Network 18
Left-arm spinner Dinesh Chandra came handy with the ball as he bagged four wickets for just eight runs guiding Network 18 to score a four-wicket win over Times Now in an inter-media cricket match played at the TERI Oval ground.
Brief scores: Times Now 89 in 19.4 overs (Dinesh Chandra four for eight) lost to Network 18 90 for six in 15.4overs.
