London, June 2 (ANI): Corporal Dipprasad Pun of 1st Royal Gurkha rifles has been conferred the top bravery award, Conspicious Gallantry Cross from Queen Elizabeth at the Buckingham Palace.
Corporal Pun had earlier defended three comrades and himself in an attack by 30 Taliban insurgents at Helmad checkpost.
Pun fired over 400 rounds of bullet shots, launched 17 grenade attacks and detonated a mine at the assailant. When his machine gun ran out of ammunition, he used gun's tripod to beat a militant.
"I thought I was definitely going to die so I thought I'd kill as many of them as I could first", the Sun quoted him, as saying at the award ceremony.(ANI)
