Bhiwandi (Maharashtra), May 31 (ANI): A massive fire destroyed a cotton mill here on Tuesday.
There were no casualties, but it took at least five fire engines to douse the flames.
The mill, which used to manufacture luxury glossy cotton, is located in the industrial area of Thane district.
"The fire has incurred loss of about Rs. 2.5 million. There were four machines, out of which, two were cutting machines. Seventy to 80 tons of material which burnt in the mill were raw cotton and about 10-15 tons were finished ones," said Maulana Azim Ullah Ansari, the owner of the mill.
The fire is suspected to be the result of a short circuit.
The adjacent areas of the mill are well known for its textile industry and have the largest number of power looms in the country. (ANI)
