PM encourages NCC cadets at Republic Day Rally

"The NCC represents a movement for peace and constructive engagement for building an India where youth can play a more positive role for the cause of society and our nation," said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while addressing the 59th Republic Day Rally of NCC cadets at Rajpath in New Delhi on Monday.

Putting emphasis on the youth power he said, “India is a young nation with more than a third of our population is below the age of 20. Very few countries in the world are bestowed with such youthful human resources.”

All of us should utilise these young power by creating an all around development environment for them so that the youth could prosper and participate in national building activities.

Dr. Singh remarked, “The involvement of youth in wide variety of national building activities will be a key determinant of our success and our excellence.”

Addressing to the NCC cadets, the Prime Minister raising the confidence of the youngsters said, “I am confident that your legacy of dedicated service will inspire more and more students to join the NCC for serving the nation and enriching their lives, character and career.”

The NCC is one such young wing of not only preparing future army, but also the young brave cadet inculcate among youth the enduring values of our Republic, our civilization and our composite culture. He said that the cadets combine the dynamisms and energy of youth with discipline and solidarity infused by the NCC.

We the Indian people though cradle different cultures, practices different rituals, speak multi languages, but all of us are bound together by the commonalities of our diverse faith and the human values, which the Indian identity expresses so magnificently, he said.

Encouraging both the bright young men and women of the NCC, the prime minister said the cadets have repeatedly displayed the promise and hope of India while addressing the challenges facing our ancient civilisation and the modern nation.

''We are going to support youth programmes that enable young people to get involved in spreading literacy, in rural development and so on,'' said Singh. “Our Government is encouraging youth movements that contribute to social and human development. The Nehru Yuvak Kendras have been activated,” added further.

To make a mark in the history, discipline and determination have been the defining attributes of any society and we need to imbibe both in view of the unprecedented progress that our country has made in the economic field, said the renowned economists Manmohan Singh.

The Prime Minister also presented awards to the best cadets in different categories under Army, Navy, and Air Force wing.

“I once again compliment you for the spectacular rally for today and a day before yesterday and I sincerely hope that you will continue to enrich the legacy of NCC and contribute to the greater glory of the motherland,” said the Prime Minister.

The Defence Minister AK Antony, Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju, the three Service Chiefs and the Defence Secretary Vijay Singh were also present on the occasion.
