Melbourne, May 18 (ANI): An Australian woman who has been convicted for dangerous driving and recklessly causing injury has appealed against the convictions, claiming she is not subjected to earthly laws because she is a witch. ighton marriage celebrant Eilish De Avalon was sentenced to jail in Victoria last year after pleading guilty to dragging traffic policeman Sen-Constable Andrew Logan by the arm for 190m.
She told Logan in February last year she was not subject to earthly laws because she was from another world.
"Your laws and penalties don't apply to me. I'm not accepting them, I'm sorry, I must go, thank you," News.com.au quoted her as telling Logan.
De Avalon, 41, was jailed for two months in August with another four months suspended, but was granted bail after lodging an appeal against the sentence and conviction.
She was also fined 1250 dollars and her licence was disqualified for one year.
Geelong Magistrates' Court heard Logan feared for his life during the ordeal in which his arm was pinned inside the car.
He said De Avalon ignored repeated calls to stop and instead accelerated up to 60km/h.
When the car slowed in traffic, Logan was able to grab the keys from the ignition.
He suffered a torn pectoral muscle and damaged shoulder and arm ligaments.
De Avalon's lawyer David Hone said she had reacted involuntarily.
The appeal will be heard on Wednesday. (ANI)
