Gulunda (Orissa), May 16 (ANI): Locals in Gulunda village of Orissa said they are pleased with the supply of potable water after the installation of a water project in the area.
Theys also said the quality and supply of water improved ever since an overhead tanker was installed.
"It feels good. Earlier we used to get dirty water. It did not taste good. These days we are using this water for preparing rice and we make tea also. And everything is all right," said Madhavi Kumbhar.
Bipin Bihari Dash, Executive Engineer, Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department, Subarnapur, said the department had to work hard to get water supply to the village.
"For eight months in a year we have hot summer season. The village here used to face a lot of problems during this period. There are four rivers in the village and yet it is unable to provide water to whole area. We used to use water from the well but now the problem has been resolved by setting up overhead tankers," he added.
With the onset of summer, issues such as water crisis, electricity supply and others increases.
Many villages in the country go dry due to very high temperatures forcing the locals to fetch water from neighbouring villages or towns. (ANI)
