Jaganmohan Reddy criticises Congress

Kadapa , Sat, 14 May 2011 ANI

Kadapa, May 14 (ANI): YSR Congress party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who retained the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, alleged that the Congress party had only exhibited 'false love' towards his father and said the people have now shown the Congress party its place in the state.

"People have shown Telugu Desam Party (TDP) their place. As far as Congress party is concerned, people have shown Congress party its place. This Congress party is actually exhibiting false love towards my dad," he said.

Meanwhile, State Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that the victory of Jaganmohan Reddy was because of sympathy for his father late Congress leader YSR Reddy.

"It is a situation where lot of sympathy is there. For a person, who has worked for 30 years in Congress party and in the region," he said.

He further said Congress party would definitely win over the hearts of people once again.

"We will go into 2014 elections stronger. We will implement our Congress party programmes, which are there with more vigour. The gaps will be filled up by Congress cadre in every village and district. Congress party has got its own strength," he added.

In the by-election results announced on Friday, Jaganmohan Reddy secured 6.9 lakh votes, over 65 per cent of the total votes polled. He won with a majority of 5.45 lakh votes over his nearest rival, Health Minister D.L. Ravindra Reddy, who secured 1.46 lakh votes.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) nominee M.V. Mysoora Reddy came third with 1.29 lakh votes. Both his rivals and 39 independents forfeited their deposits.

In Pulivendula, Jaganmohan's mother Vijayamma secured a record 81,373 votes margin, surpassing her husband's 68,681 vote margin in the 2009 elections. She humbled her nearest Congress rival and brother-in-law Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, who got a little more than 28,000 votes.

Jaganmohan and his mother quit the Congress in November last year and also resigned from Parliament and assembly, respectively, accusing the leadership of trying to divide their family.

In March, Jaganmohan launched the YSR Congress, promising to work for the implementation of all the welfare schemes launched by his late father. (ANI)
