'Clash of the Titans' like maniac beheads Brit woman in Tenerife holiday island

Tenerife , Sat, 14 May 2011 ANI

Tenerife, May 14 (ANI): A 60-year-old British woman was beheaded by a maniac on the holiday island of Tenerife on Friday.

The suspect, believed to have been released from a mental hospital three months ago, had randomly chosen the victim for the horrific knife attack at a supermarket in the popular resort of Los Cristianos, The Sun reports.

The victim was working at a Chinese supermarket when she was killed.

According to reports, the 28-year-old Bulgarian attacker reportedly picked up a large knife or machete from a shelf in the store, and stabbed the woman repeatedly without uttering a word before chopping her head off.

He then ran out into the street covered in blood, carrying his victim's head and telling passers-by: "This is my treasure."

Security guards chased and arrested the psychopath, and later discovered his name to be Deyan Valentinov D, a vagabond who had records of carrying out such horrific attacks in the past.

"He has a history of threatening passers-by and telling them he is the prophet of God. This is an atrocious crime, the worst that has happened here in recent years," Local mayor José Alberto Gonzalez Reveron said.

A British shocked eyewitness said the scene was not less than that of the movie 'Clash of the Titans'.

"There was a scruffy guy, mid-20s, walking behind me muttering to himself, carrying what I thought was a joke head by the hair, with blood. It made me think of Clash of the Titans, the Gorgons, where he holds the head up," he said.

"I still find it hard to believe it was a real head - it looked like some prosthetic thing you see in a movie. It's just bizarre," the eyewitness added. (ANI)
