Fardeen gets relief in cocaine case
Fardeen Khan got major respite after a special court on Thursday discharged him from the charges, he was alleged to have involved in smuggling of commercial quantity of Cocaine.
Special Judge P N Deshmukh ordered that Fardeen Khan must be charged for possessing only one gram of cocaine, for which he might get an imprisonment of six months or a fine of 10000 or both.

Earlier in 2001 Fardeen was arrested near an ATM while buying 1 gram of cocaine by a drug peddler Nasir Saikh on Juhu –Tara road by Narcotic Control Bureau.
Reportedly Fardeen has requested NDPS court few months back to charge him only for possessing 1 gram of cocaine.
Fardeen's lawyer Ayaz Khan said, “NDPS Judge P.N. Deshmukh allowed Fardeen's application by which he can be charged only for the possession of one gram cocaine.”
As the co –accused Saikh and Gomes were found with 9 gram of the drugs and they including Fardeen were charge sheeted for possessing 9 gram of the drugs.
The court ordered the police to frame charges against Fardeen for possessing the banned drug and also against Gomes and Shaikh for peddling the drugs.
Fardeen has also confessed before the court to have taken the drugs on other 6 occasion to combat professional depression.
The investigation confirmed 1 gram theory as it was also stated by the drug peddlers that Fardeen was there to buy only 1 gram of cocaine and also the evidence that he drew only Rs 4000 from the ATM which can buy him only 1 gram of drug.
The Judge mentioned that Fardeen can apply for legal amnesty available to first time offenders under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances Act.
“Fardeen would also be entitled to a one-time immunity to prosecution if he completed a detoxification treatment,” the actor’s lawyer Ayaz Khan said.
The degree of punishment depends on the quantity of drugs possessed; those who possessed less then 2 gram are sent to jail for maximum period of one year while a supplier can get imprisonment of maximum ten years.
