Exclusive art exhibition held to commemorate Tagore's 150th birth anniversary
New Delhi, May 8 (ANI): Bangladesh planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retired) A. K. Khandker inaugurated an art exhibition on the works of famous literary genius, artist, thinker and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore at the National Gallery of Modern Art.
This exclusive exhibition has been organised to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Tagore, being observed on a grand scale in India, Bangladesh and many other parts of the world.
Air Marshal Khandker who inaugurated the exhibition along with Kumari Shailja, Minister for Tourism, said that he was mesmerised on seeing the artistic creations on display.
"Well, it is difficult for me to say anything about these wonderful paintings, simply because they are out of this world. All these three artistes, the paintings that they have made, about them all I can say is that it can only mesmerise people.
And force them to think as to how beautiful a creation can be. All I can say is that they have a simple mesmerising effect," said Air Vice Marshal Khandker.
Apart from Tagore's works, on view are paintings by two other famous Bengali artists who incidentally hailed from Tagore's family.
Incidentally, India and Bangladesh have jointly been celebrating the occasion of Tagore's 150th birth anniversary since he is the author of the national anthems of both the nations.
The three-day exhibition will witness 'curtains down' Monday (May 09). (ANI)
