Srinagar, May 6(ANI): Hurriyat Conference (M) leader Shabir Ahmad Shah led hundreds of people to offer funeral prayers in the memory of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Srinagar on Friday.
They gathered on the streets raising slogans hailing bin Laden's contribution to the Muslim community.
Shah called the Al-Qaeda chief the symbol of pride who would live in their hearts forever.
"Osama's name will live for as long as sun and moon continue to shine. There was a soft corner in Osama's heart regarding Kashmir, he has sacrificed everything for the religion and he has proved his concern for Islam by sacrificing his life and wealth," Shah said.
"He had a soft corner for Muslims in Afghanistan, Iran and Palestine and could feel their pain. He wanted to end the misery in which Muslims were living around the world. He sacrificed everything, even his life, for this cause. May god accept his sacrifices. Osama bin Laden is our pride and a symbol and he is alive in our heart," he added.
Bin Laden, who had evaded capture for a decade, was killed in a top secret operation involving a small team of US Special Forces on Sunday in Pakistan's Abbottabad city.
The Saudi-born terrorist, accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, 2001, was at the top of the US "most wanted" list. (ANI)
