Nevada (US), May 3 (ANI): Mango, the national fruit of India, is making waves in United States of America.

Orlando (Florida) headquartered National Mango Board, which says that mangoes 'have become the darling of chefs' across USA, is organizing 'Mango Hometown Tour' in various cities.

"We've challenged 12 top chefs, two in each of the Mango Hometown Tour cities, to create a mango dish that perfectly represents their regional cuisine," said a Board announcement.

This tour will hold events in St. Louis (Missouri) on May 6-7, Charlotte (North Carolina) on May 13-14, Portland (Oregon) on June 17-18, Tampa (Florida) on July 8-9, Cleveland (Ohio) on July 29-30, and Hartford (Connecticut) on August 26-27.

Distinguished Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed said that mango leaves form part of Hindu pujas, festivals, and weddings. Poet Kalidas wrote about mango and it is associated with Lord Ganesh also.

Zed, who is Chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, in a statement in Nevada on Monday, said that the Indian Government should do more to popularize Indian mango worldwide. India grows over 100 varieties of mangoes.

Mission of National Mango Board of USA is 'to increase awareness and consumption of fresh mangos' in USA.

Ronnie Cohen, Ted Johnson, and Ken Nabal are Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Treasurer respectively of the Board.

This 'Ultimate Mango Taste-Off' event in St. Louis will feature Chef Josh Galliano of Monarch battling with Chef Nick Miller of Harvest to see who can create the best mango-inspired dish reflecting local cuisine. (ANI)
