Protest over Yaseen Malik's arrest turns violent in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 29(ANI): The arrest of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Mohammad Yaseen Malik sparked a violent protest in Srinagar on Friday.

Malik was detained on Thursday when he took to the streets with his supporters to protest the arrest of a local youth, Ashiq Ahmed, from Maisuma area.

JKLF activists held a sit-in protest on Friday, where they demanded the leader's immediate release, and shouted pro-freedom and anti-police slogans.

Police forces stopped protestors as they moved to the main city, which led to a clash between them.

While protestors threw stones at the security officials, policemen baton-charged the agitators. (ANI)
