Saint Lucia, Apr 25(ANI): Pakistan coach Waqar Younis has said he expects his new-look side to emulate their 2011 World Cup performance in the ongoing West Indies tour.
"We have brought some young cricketers on this tour. It's a rebuilding sort of phase," The Nation quoted Waqar, as saying.
"I hope these youngsters do well in the international arena and do well on this trip," he added.
Waqar praised the way the team performed in the recently concluded World Cup on the Indian subcontinent.
Pakistan had reached the semi-finals of the tournament despite quite an unimpressive build-up.
"The boys have done a wonderful job, especially in the World Cup. We knew if we played well, cricket interest would come back in the country. The only way we could have done that was to do well," Waqar said.
"It is the first time in our history that we have lost in a semi-final or even before that stage, and going back home and being praised. I am really pleased the way the people started understanding cricket," he added. (ANI)
