Murdered Indian-origin bride's mum haunted by Anni's call night before death

London, Apr 22 (ANI): The mother of Anni Dewani, the Indian-origin bride who was murdered during her honeymoon in Cape Town last year, has said the words of her daughter that she wanted to tell many things after returning back, keeps haunting her.

Nilam Hindocha spoke about her anguish for the first time after her daughter's death, revealing that Anni rang her the before her murder to say: "I have a lot to tell you mummy - we will have a long chat when I get home."

Twenty-eight-year-old Anni was killed only hours later in Cape Town in a carjack shooting allegedly ordered by her Brit-Indian husband Shrien.

"On the day she died I had a mother's intuition something was wrong with Anni and I had to call her mobile," Nilam said, adding that Shrien received the call in her absence, and later Anni called up to say that she needed to have a word with her later.

"I'll never forget that conversation - not because of what she said but because of what she didn't. She said we would have a long chat when she got home. She then cut the call short, saying it was very expensive. That was the last I heard from her," The Sun quoted her as saying.

"Next time I saw her she was lying in a coffin in a funeral parlour in London. She could not tell me what had been troubling her and it drives me crazy. Perhaps Shrien knows. He is the only one who can end my pain now by going back to South Africa and answering all the questions being asked by the police," Nilam added.

She also alleged that Anni had called her from Mumbai while making the wedding plan and told her about some sounded arguments, but added that she was relieved when the wedding was fixed.

Shrien is currently fighting a case against extradition to South Africa, where the murder took place. (ANI)
