London, Apr 8(ANI): Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has launched a blistering attack on Manchester City midfield ace Gareth Barry, who was England's skipper against Ghana last week.
Barton reckons that Barry is not good enough for the international stage, and described him as "a teacher's pet".
"Did you see the game against Germany during the World Cup? If you look at the fourth goal, Ozil against Barry, it's like the hare and the tortoise," the Sun quoted Barton, as saying.
"Barry is discreet. He always agrees. He is a bit like the pupil who sits in the front row. When I play against him, I can sleep tight. Gerrard, he is dangerous. But Barry, no problem," he added.
Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has defended Barry.
"Gareth is a fantastic man and, as a player, incredible. I think Joey Barton is a good player, but Barry is a fantastic player," Mancini said. (ANI)
