Infiltration bid from Pakistan, one killed
Jammu, Oct 3 (IANS) One person was killed while others ran back into Pakistan when Indian troops foiled an infiltration bid from across the International Border (IB) near this Jammu and Kashmir winter capital, a Border Security Force (BSF) spokesperson said Friday.
The incident took place Thursday evening when BSF guards noticed some movement near the Korotana border outpost fencing, about 25 km west of Jammu.
'It was a group of three to four infiltrators trying to sneak into the Indian side,' said a BSF spokesperson. The troops fired, killing one of the infiltrators on the outer side of the fence in Indian territory.
He said the killed man was a Pakistani national, from whom eatables and cigarettes were recovered. 'Others in the group managed to run back into Pakistani side,' the official added.
He said there was some firing from the Pakistani Rangers' side as well to give cover to the infiltration.
