London, October 2 (ANI): A million-pound bank note given to Britain by the US in the Marshall Aid plan to rebuild Europe after the Second World War sold for a whopping 78, 300 pounds, twice it's expected price, at auction.
The eight-inch wide treasury note is one of only two still surviving that were given to Britain by the US in the Marshall Aid plan to rebuild Europe after the Second World War.
It was part of an archive, sold by businessman Bill Parkinson.
Nine such notes were shared around the financial institutions, and were used to loan money against.
The note sold by Parkinson is numbered 000008, reports the Daily Express.
Britain has only recently finished repaying the debt. (ANI)
