New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): At least 760 companies of central forces will be deployed for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections.
According to official sources, 100 company central force have already arrived in the state to maintain pre-elections law and order while remaining 660 company force are due to arrive shortly.
Earlier, the Election Commission (EC) has said that during the first phase in north Bengal on April 18, 500 companies will be deployed.
The EC said 361 companies of forces will come from Assam and 200 companies from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.
Meanwhile, the filing of nominations for the first phase elections is going on in full swing.
The State will have elections in six phases. The first phase of voting will take place on April 18, second phase on April 23, third phase on April 27, fourth phase on May 3, fifth phase on May 7 and sixth phase on May 10.
The total number of assembly constituencies in West Bengal is 294, of which 68 are reserved for the Scheduled Castes and 16 for the Scheduled Tribes.
The Election Commission has said that polling will take place at 51,919 polling stations. (ANI)
