Chandigarh, Oct 2 (IANS) A young German woman who alleged that five youth tried to rape her after abducting her from the upscale Taj Hotel Thursday recognised four of the accused after an identification parade, officials here said.
The 20-year-old German woman was allegedly abducted from the Taj Hotel around 2.30 a.m. Sunday. She alleged that she was held captive for 12 hours during which the youth attempted to rape her, assaulted her and threatened to kill her.
The four accused, who are residents of villages in Haryana's Ambala district, 45 km from here, are in police remand till Oct 3. While two were arrested Tuesday, two were held Wednesday.
The German woman, who came here to attend a wedding, was taken to Delhi Monday by German embassy officials and her father.
Kulwant Singh, investigating officer of the case, admitted that the victim was in the city for identification of the culprits and was kept at an undisclosed location by the police.
However, Assistant Superintendent of Police Madhur Verma told IANS that the victim 'had not returned to Chandigarh'.
According to a police official, CCTV camera footage showed that the victim willingly sat in the Scorpio SUV, in which she was allegedly abducted.
