New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath will inaugurate the annual meet of adoption agencies here tomorrow.Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), an autonomous body under Ministry of Women and Child Development is mandated to regulate in-country and inter-country adoptions. To facilitate adoption of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children, central government have notified adoption guidelines. These guidelines provide that adoptions should be processed only by Govt. recognised adoption agencies. Such agencies are available all over the country.
Representatives from around 300 recognised adoption agencies from different parts of the country would be attending the meet. The participants would also include officials of the State Government and of the newly set up State Adoption Resource Agencies (SARAs).
The main focus of discussions during the meet would be on adoption guidelines, legal procedures and Child Adoption Resource and Guidance System (CARINGS), which is a web-based management system recently launched by CARA.
The consultations during the meet would be useful in mapping the expectations of the stakeholders to enable diligent policy planning by CARA and also further streamlining the adoption programme in the country. The occasion would also be used to familiarise the adoption agencies with CARINGS, to facilitate their online registration for better monitoring of the adoption process by the State government and CARA.
