Sopore encounter ends, two militants shot dead

Srinagar, Mar.13 (ANI): The encounter in Sopore, which began yesterday, has come to an end as the second militant has been shot dead.

The killed militant is Waseem Ganai , who was allegedly involved in the killing of two teenage sisters, Arifa and Akhter, in Sopore in January, which sparked widespread condemnation from the political parties in J andK.

Wasim is the second millitant shot dead by the police, one militant was killed on Saturday.

Acording to the officials, Ganai took shelter in an underground drainage system in Muslim Peer area of Sopore and was killed in the wee hours.

A search operation was launched in the locality by the security forces after a tip-off. As they were closing in, the militants opened fire.

As a result, few buildings were damaged and the security forces are searched through the debris. (ANI)
