New Delhi, Mar 9 (ANI): Expressing disappointment over frequent disruptions during Question Hour today, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said that it was becoming 'almost dead' and that there was a need to rejuvenate it.
"You cannot disrupt the Question Hour in this fashion. You cannot destroy the sanctity of the Question Hour. Just go back to your seats. The Question Hour is almost dead, there is need to rejuvenate it," said Meira Kumar.
Her remarks came following an uproar created in the House for the third consecutive day by the members of the Samajwadi Party.
Samajwadi Party leader Shailendra Kumar earlier referred to the arrest of Akhilesh Yadav, son of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and president of the party's Uttar Pradesh unit.
Lucknow Police arrested Akhilesh Yadav from Amausi airport here this morning.
The arrest took place before he was to a lead a protest against the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
The Samajwadi Party leaders after voicing their concerns over the issue stormed the Well of the House, as the Speaker continued with the Question Hour amid slogan shouting.
An angry Speaker said all the members had the protection of the Chair and if the member still had concerns, the same may be raised with her later.
Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier claimed that he along with Akhilesh was put under house arrest on Monday morning.
The administration prevented the duo from proceeding to the national capital to attend the Lok Sabha, he alleged.
"Our rights have been violated. Akhilesh and I wanted to attend the Lok Sabha but our path was barricaded. The government is not letting us attend the Lok Sabha. The DIG and the DM of Lucknow will be taught a lesson," Yadav said.
Earlier, Yadav shot off a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar protesting his alleged house arrest. He was later allowed to leave but the leader insisted that he would raise the issue in Lok Sabha. (ANI)
