Honda president and chief executive Masahiro Takedagawa said Honda City was one of the most successful car brands in the Asian markets.
'With this launch, India will become the largest market for Honda City,' he added. Prior to its launch in Mumbai, the new City model was introduced in Thailand and Delhi.
The third-generation City, to be available in six colours, comes with two-plus-two years' warranty. With the introduction of the new machine, the parent company will put brakes on the second generation of Honda City, currently on the Indian roads.
Takedagawa told IANS that the company was planning to add a small car in its portfolio that would be smaller than its existing hatchback Jazz.
'The new small car was being developed with global requirements in mind as rising crude price was driving people more towards smaller cars with better mileage,' he added.
