Did Robert Ludlum's gold-digger wife kill him?

London , Sun, 06 Mar 2011 ANI

London, Mar 6 (ANI): A new book telling the story of Robert Ludlum, the writer and creator of the Bourne movies, has raised questions about the writer's 2001death under mysterious circumstances.

The investigation for the new book, 'The Ludlum Identity' by Kenneth Kearns, has pointed that Ludlum second wife, Karen Dunn, might have been responsible for his death, reports the Daily Mail.

The author was found on fire, lying immobilised in a reclining chair on February 10, 2001, at his Florida home.

He had undergone quadruple bypass surgery in 1994 and this, coupled with osteoarthritis, left him unable to escape the flames.

The investigators have also established that fire extinguishers throughout the house had been left untouched. Certainly, Dunn, who was in the house that time, had not bothered to put out the flames.

Instead firefighters found her in the kitchen, belligerent and uncooperative. "F*** off, I'm fixing myself a drink," she told them.

She refused to accompany him to hospital in the ambulance and also didn't visit the ailing writer while he was hospitalized.

Ludlum's son Jonathan said that he believed that an accelerant was used to fuel the flames. Also, the author's friends and relatives doubted Dunn's loyalties.

She even traded the engagement ring that Ludlum had bought for her, for an even larger, more ornate, diamond ring without his knowledge. And, Ludlum's daughter Glynis publicly referred to Dunn as a gold digger.

On March 12, 2001, just 30 days after the blaze, the famous author died of an apparent heart attack. (ANI)
