Kolkata, Mar 2 (ANI): Welcoming the six-phase polling schedule for West Bengal as announced by the Election Commission of India, Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has said her list of candidates was ready but she was waiting for Congress to draw up its own before negotiations for seat adjustment could begin.
She was, however, confident that the negotiations with Congress over seat-adjustment would not delay the announcement of the Trinamool list.
"It is a small issue. We have an alliance at the all-India level," she said, adding, "We will have to talk to Congress".
She further said the law and order situation of the state is getting worse because of the violence perpetrated by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) government.
"Law and order situation is not okay in West Bengal. The state sponsored terrorism is going on since long So, whatever the election commission will decide we respect that and I think the election commission has done right thing," she added.
She said she would keep faith on the prudence of the Election Commission in deploying Central paramilitary forces in such a manner that the elections could be held in a free and fair manner.
"But arms and ammunition stockpiled by CPM cadres in different districts must be unearthed before polling begins, she added.
Mamata also appealed to the people of West Bengal to vote for change.
"We salute democracy. Please cast your vote for change, security and education." she added.
The state will have elections in six phases. The first phase of voting will take place on April 18, second phase on April 23, third phase on April 27, fourth phase on May 3, fifth phase on May 7 and sixth phase on May 10. (ANI)
