Scientists could pump life into dead heart of a rat
Scientist from the University of Minnesota could able to pump life into a dead heart of a rat by injecting into it new heart cells from newborn rats. The study was published in British premier journal of biomedical research Nature Medicine.
This major breakthrough has offered hopes to millions that there are days to come when scientist will be able to create human hearts for transplant.

During the process the scientist remove all the cells from the dead heart of a rat, leaving the valve and outer structure as scaffolding for new heart to take the shape.
New heart cells from new born rat were injected into the scaffolding and the result took many by surprise when within two weeks the cells from the new born rat could develop into a new beating heart conducting electrical impulses and pumped small amount of blood.
Doris A Taylor, Director of the Centre of Cardiovascular Repair at Minnesota University, who headed the team said, “The early success opens the door to this notion that you can make any organ: kidney, liver, lung, pancreas - you name it and we hope we can make it.”
The researchers claim that through such processes they would be able to grow a human heart after injecting bone marrow cells directly from the recipients of the donated organ thus it will negate the danger of new heart being rejected by immune system.
This study though seems like a distant dream to be achieved in case of human being but if successful it will render many a life who suffers due to organ failure.
