Jayalalithaa invites Modi for an alliance lunch!

There is a sign of breeding new alliance between BJP and AIADMK with the hearty lunch thrown to euphoric Narendra Modi by Jayalalithaa at her Poes garden Bungalow in Chennai on January 14.

After the two hour lunch session BJP, Spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told media, “It was an extraordinary lunch. Jayalalithaa was a very generous host.”

While Modi kept himself away from media and walked straight to his bullet proof car.

Prasad said, “We discussed a whole range of contemporary issues,” and pointing towards the possibility of forming an alliance with AIADMK.

“We did discuss wide range of politics including terrorism, Ram Sethu and LTTE,” he added.

AIDMK and BJP were an ally but split in 2004 after the general election in which her party could not draw a single member to Lok Sabha.

But the alliance was very much insightful from the tone of both the parties speaking on same line and after Modi made his triumphant victory in Gujarat, Jayalalithaa was among the first few to wish Modi on his victory.

However Prasad cautiously said on the issue of alliance, “We do not want to rush into things right now. But what kind of alliance, if any, has to be discussed by the BJP's national leadership and Jayalalithaaji.”

If there is any alliance between the two parties, it will revive the hope for BJP in Tamil Nadu.

After the lunch Modi took the centre stage as the Chief Guest in 38th anniversary function of Tuglak , Tamil weekly, owned by Cho Ramaswamy, where he went on describing his sweeping victory in Gujarat poll, the development issues and inclusive growth he pursued in Gujarat.

He said, “During the freedom struggle, many Indians struggled, but it was Mahatma Gandhi, who turned the struggle into a mass movement and got us Independence.”

“Gujarat verdict proved that anti-incumbency theory was only a myth. The development and governance would lay a decisive role in deciding election victories," he added.

But by all accounts the lunch remains the centre of all possibilities which set a right chord to bring an alliance between AIADMK and BJP.
