Obama, potential Republican rivals neck-and-neck in 2012 Presidential race

Washington , Fri, 18 Feb 2011 ANI

Washington, Feb.18 (ANI): US President Barack Obama and his yet to be named Republican rival, got 45 percent American votes each in the latest poll conducted by Gallup, previewing the 2012 elections.

According to the poll, the tie reflects a slight dip in Obama's advantage, compared to last year.

"At this stage, as numerous Republican contenders begin the long process of wooing Republican delegates and voters, or consider jumping into the race, Gallup's generic re-elect measure indicates that their efforts would not be in vain, as fewer than half of registered voters are prepared to vote for Obama in 2012," writes Lydia Saad, Senior Editor, The Gallup Poll.

The result of this poll is based on the survey of 1015 adults and has a four percent margin of error, Politico reports. (ANI)
