London, Feb 16 (ANI): Soccer star David Beckham is set to get nearly 500,000 pounds in damages over a magazine's claims that he paid a prostitute for sex, it has emerged.

The payout will come in Germany from the publishers of In Touch, which alleged the football player paid 2,000 pounds-a-night prostitute Irma Nici for sex at a New York hotel, reports the Daily Mail.

The 35-year-old launched legal cases in Germany and the US in September 2010 as the story was published in both countries.

It has now emerged that he won a court ruling in Germany over Hamburg-based firm Bauer, which also prints the magazines Closer and Grazia in the UK.

Meanwhile, Beckham has suffered a legal blow in the US as his libel claim was rejected by a Los Angeles judge who ruled his lawyers had not proved Bauer acted 'with malice', as required by U.S. law. (ANI)
