Delhi retains AIU women's tennis title
Delhi University blanked their opponents Bangalore University with a convincing 2-0 margin to retain the All-India inter-university women's tennis title played at the Mangalore University tennis courts at Mangalagangothri near here on Sunday.
Delhi outscored Bangalore 2-0 in the finals to seal the championship in their favour.

In the first match, Sanaa Bhambri had to fight it out against Asha Nanda Kumar to score a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 win over her.
Asha fought back hard to force the match in to the third set. Asha after conceding the first set 3-6 bounced back to win 6-1 but in the end Sanaa held her nerve and clinched the decider 6-4 in her favour.
However, Delhi’s Parul Goswami gave no chance to her opponent, as she couldn’t get time to even react. She scored not only a comfortable but also a creditable 6-0, 6-1 win over Akshitha Basavaraj.
In the third place play-off, Punjab beat Osmania 2-0. Neha Singh defeated Preethi Shravan 7-6, 6-0 and Simer downed Rajarajeshwari 6-0, 6-3.
Earlier, Delhi University started off its campaign with a 2-0 win over hosts Mangalore University and entered into the finals after they edged past Osmania 2-0.
