Macintosh operating system based Apple's iphone that claimed not to be fetched by any malicious malware has been detected of being affected from a Trojan on January 10, 2008.
The security firms of Apple's iPhone Symantec and F-Secure have confirmed the news of recognising first Trojan in an iphone. ModMyifone.com has claimed to identify that malicious code.
According to ModMyfone.com, the spotted Trojan has been known as ‘113 prep' aka “iPhone firmware 1.1.3 prep. “The malicious code of 1.1.3 prep first showed a slang message ‘shoes' displayed on the screen, then it claimed to be a tool used to prepare the device for an upgrade to firmware version 1.1.3.
“The upgrade news can be a fraudulent, said United States Computer Emergency Response Team, which has alarmed the iphone users not rush to upgrade their iphone.
“The iphone firmware 1.1.3 prep initially hits on the bin folder and erase all of its contents than destroy the popular Erica's Utilities package and overwrite an encrypted protocol that is known as Open SSH, informed security firm Symantec.
“For killing Prep 113, users should first uninstall the Trojan then reinstall the broken applications, said Symantec.
Though as for receiving some reports, prep 1.1.3 has not permanently damaged any iphone yet iPhone users have been advised to exercise caution while downloading third-party applications, advised security firm.
As per reports, it looks mild and the site that distributed the iPhone malware has now been shut down. So there is no chance to get infected from 1.1.3 prep in the future, said F-secure.
Some site reportedly claimed that 11-year old child had developed this Trojan accidentally while he was playing with XML files. This means that iPhone users are unlikely to get infected in the future.
