Honor 8 Stands Out Despite Similarity With P9!

Honor 8 was created to fill in the gap that was created by P9; however, one can say that the device has its own unique design to boast off along with some peculiar features that are sure to leave everyone around impressed.

It shares many things in common with that of P9, and one such is the dual camera. But we must say that Honor 8 has done it in a clever way and improved the device for taking effective low-light selfies and has impressive bokeh effects.

Let us here have a look at the Honor 8 to understand what all features the device has in offing that makes it a worth investment.

Design

Honor 8 measures 145.5 x 71 x 7.5 mm that is similar to that of P9, and the former weighs 153g which is 9g more than P9. While one can point that Honor 8 shares many similarities with that of P9 in terms of design and build, one can see that Honor 8 has brought in a unique touch to its design. The Honor device is very much diverse from its Huawei counterpart and is gorgeously stunning.

The device uses metal only in its frame, it has curved framework with paintjob like the two 2.5D pieces of glass it is unraveling.

Look & Feel

Honor 8 has the earpiece set above its display, where you will also find 8MP selfie camera and a pair of sensors. It also has embedded notice light below the earpiece frame but that can only be seen when it's active.

Honor logo resides under the screen. To the left you have SIM/microSD tray, which can either accommodate nano-SIM and a microSD card, or house two nano-SIM cards. To the right the device has its metal volume rocker as well the power or lock key.

Display

The device has a 5.2" IPS LTPS display with 1080p; its LTPS screen gives you deep black and high color range. Its 2.5D screen glass is quite good but it doesn't come with any kind of protection. It gives you a maximum screen brightness of 460 nits. In terms of color reproduction, the Honor 8 screen does an average job.

Battery life

The device comes backed by a potted 3,000 mAh battery, which favors quick charging with a 9V/2A charger. It can charge the phone for about 40% in 30 minutes. Honor 8 comes with 9V/2A plug for fast charging. The device can easily last for nearly 3 days under normal calling, browsing and video playing.

Connectivity

The Honor 8 is right outfitted for connectivity. It supports nearly four 2G bands, five 3G bands, plus five 4G bands. It extends support to dual-band 2.4/5.0GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot.

Performance

The Honor 8 is backed by Kirin 950 chipset, which boasts of octa-core CPU with 4 Cortex-A72 cores which are clocked at 2.3GHz, plus 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The smartphone is packed with 4GB RAM, which is common in its 32GB and 64GB models. The device puts up a nice show and there is no major trouble that you'll face.

Camera

Honor 8 has two 12MP sensors, where one is comparatively normal and takes color photographs whereas the other is just black & white, because it doesn't have Bayer filter that helps in producing color images.

Conclusion

Huawei is aiming at running Honor as a split brand in a few regions, but one can clearly see that its design principle is same as seen in Honor 8. As compared to P9, this Honor 8 device lets you save €150 which makes for quite an appealing offer.

In terms of design, and camera, Honor 8 does a decent job; and if you have loved the P9, this device would surely appeal to you.
