P.E.L.L.A. by Priyanka Ella Lorena Lama was an Ingenious of Clever Construction at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016

Mumbai, 25th August, 2016: A collection by Priyanka Ella Lorena Lama for her P.E.L.L.A. label is always an innovative experience. At Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 P.E.L.L.A.'s 'Minus6.5' was an interesting invigorating line of shapes that were hard to decipher. Hand woven pure Eri silk, Jamdani, Cashmere and Pashmina all ideal for the coming season, were the designer's top choices. Priyanka's colour card remained neutral with white and grey and then moved onto black but peaked with red.

Known for innovations in surface manipulation she used thread work and then added hand painting to create an almost blurred visual. Priyanka's construction is her forte and this season too the patterns were created from a single block of fabric 'A CELLA' which needed minimum sewing and measurements thus offering an amazing silhouette. The finish was with rolled and blind hems that created unique ensembles. The collection featured copious amounts of pleats and layers.

A ravishing red cape gown made an interesting impact on the ramp. The silhouettes, though unstructured, were eye-catching.

For garments that can turn into conversation pieces the fashion conscious buyers need to add 'Minus6.5' to their wardrobes from P.E.L.L.A.

PADMAJA KRISHNAN'S 'LOOM OF MY MIND' WAS A FASHIONABLE SYMPHONY AT LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2016

Bringing the beauty of slow sustainable fashion to centre stage at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016, Padmaja Krishnan's 'Loom of My Mind' collection was a melodious fashion symphony. The designer presented the magic of handloom that revealed the expertise of the women's wear team in Maheshwar where Padmaja created the specially woven fabrics that were highlighted with amazing detailing.

Using colours and textures in the weaves to complement the fabrics; the clothes made from natural fibres had an instant quirky appeal. Shades of ivory, black, indigo and brown with a profusion of checks and stripes added to the glamour of the ensembles. Loose easy wear came on the ramp as tunics, kaftans; skirts, baggy trousers; blouses and stoles were mixed and matched to form a melange of unconventional silhouettes.

A black and white chequered tunic dress was the right balance between conservativeness and playfulness.  An ankle-length beige pleated skirt was teamed with a grey kaftan.

For relaxed leisure wear with large accents of sustainable fabrics 'The Loom of my Mind' by Padmaja Krishnan was a collection of fashion with a message.
