It's surely a great time for the smartphone industry as every manufacturer around is getting equal opportunities to bring in some striking models in the market. The latest to join this league is Micromax subordinate YU which has launched its new flagship - Yunicorn.
The smartphone saw its release today i.e. on May 31, 2016. YU Yunicorn is bagging a lot of attention from every sphere right after it launch. It is expected to be one desired budget smartphone. Let us take a close look at the features and specifications the device has to offer in order to understand how it will fare in the long run.
Features & Specs
In terms of look, YU Yunicorn has taken the different route and is seen flaunting the complete metal clad body, something we've lately seen the elite brands do.
Moving on, the device has a sleek body and is just 8.15 mm thick. At the front of it, you will see a 5.5-inch full HD display that has 2.5D glass. It has physical home button where you'll even find the fingerprint screen unlocking sensor.
Talking about the processor and software, YU Yunicorn is going to be backed by a potent 1.81GHz MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755M) octa-core processor. For storage, the smartphone will have a 4GB RAM, and 32GB of inbuilt memory. Like we said earlier as well, the smartphone has taken a lot from the elite models out there and like them; it will also have an enormous 4,000mAh battery, which as per the claims made by the company can allow the smartphone to stay active for nearly 500 hours when in the standby mode.
As for camera, the device is said to boast higher quality. It will have a 13MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus. For selfies, it will have a 5MP camera that can easily take wide-angle shots.
Price & Availability
In the past also, the YU smartphones made it a point to give the rivals a tough competition and this new device is making no exception in this area. Yunicorn is priced Rs.14,999 and as part of company's flash sale, the smartphone would be available at a price of Rs.12,999 for the initial month.
The registration window for YU Yunicorn has opened up on Flipkart and its promotional sale would start from June 7.
Competition
As we saw, the device is backed with high-end features and even has a very affordable price tag to complement. At such price and amazing specs in offing, the device would face some tough challenge from rival brands like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, LG K10, lately launched Moto G4 Plus plus Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) and the Lenovo K4 Note.
And which one of these would fare well in the market would only be clear once we get the first hand review on the performance of each device.
