In West Bengal General Assembly Elections are due this year and all the political parties are ready for the elections. The state is on the edge of elections which are going to held in 6 phases. First phase of polls will be starting from 4th of April and last sixth phase will be ending on 5th of May and counting of votes will take place on 19th of May. It is noted that in 2011 Trinamool Congress came in power led by Mamata Banerjee and by this victory she ended 34 year long left rule, in 2011.
No doubt Trinamool Congress is the most powerful political party in the state which has a strong hold on minorities and farmers votes, this is the reason why it seems in these elections TMC is going all alone for elections without any alliance.
Left who ruled West Bengal for decades is now became the second most popular party after its defeat in 2011 elections and it seems left has not been able to absorb the shock.
Wherein congress lost it all strong holds during the left rule and now congress is limited to few pockets only and for the BJP it's going to be a tuff task to increase its vote percent. Many who lately joined BJP have failed to build momentum with no popular face other than Chandra Kumar Bose, grand nephew of Netaji and Rupa Ganguly.
West Bengal legislative assembly consists of 295 members including one nominated
From the Anglo Indian Community ,where TMC is in majority with 184 seats left with 62 and congress 42, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha with 3, Samajwadi Party 1 and 2 Independent. During these elections TMC and INC both were in alliance under UPA but later on both of them fall apart.
According to the recent popular opinion polls it's quite clean that TMC led by Mamata Banerjee will retain power once again despite of increase in left vote percent. BJP which has nothing to loose in the state may be able to capture 1 seat or may see increase in vote percent.
Though these elections are not going to be a easy task for CM Mamata Banerjee as she failed to show her work on ground. It's no secret that CM Mamata had to go through so many allegations and it was a difficult tenure for her. The opposition parties including congress in not in mood to spare any opportunity to attack her government for the Saradha scam besides rising crime and violence in the state.
With elections around the corner all the political parties are now negotiating to forge alliances. Congress and left are in favor of forming alliance to take on TMC.
Whereas BJP which is trying to rectify their mistakes done during the Bihar elections, has decided to give more importance to state leaders rather then focusing on PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
