In major changes the President Rule has been imposed in Uttarakhand a day before the crucial vote of trust in the states. The cabinet had recommended for the same after the meeting which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last night.
Meanwhile Congress has called it as the murder of democracy to the step.
Congress has said that a good government is asked to prove majority on the next day and less than 24 hours, it has been sacked. Party has said that the strength of a government is proved on the floor of the assembly and not on anywhere else.
It is noted that the effective strength of the 70 member house to 61, which give the congress 27 MLA. It has made government with the help of 6 lawmakers of the Progressive Democratic Front and it would have got effective strengths of 33 enough to Mondays trust vote.
It is noted that the rebel Congress leader Vijay Bahuguna has welcomed the imposition of President Rule in the state. He has alleged that the Harish Rawat government needed to be dismissed as it was involved in corruption and there is nothing wrong in the step. He has wished that the central rule will not prolong for the long time and fresh elections would be held in the state.
Meanwhile BJP has called the whole matter as the internal problem of the Congress. Union Minister Arun Jaitley said that everything that can go wrong with constitutional functioning has happened in Uttarakhand and it is textbook example of breakdown of governance.
