Megastar Amitabh Bachchan honoured the differently abled people on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Saturday.
Big B said that, “Divyang Divas is the most respectable and deserving name for them.”
Amitabh posted on Twitter in which he said, “Today a day to honour those differently abled. Divyang Divas… a most respectable deserving name… dedicated to the deserving.”
The UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities ahs been celebrated annually on Decemer 3 across the world since 1992.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hailed the determination of the disabled people on Twitter and tweeted, “On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I salute determination of our Divyang sisters and brothers and convey my best wishes to them.”
He added, “Let us continue our ongoing efforts with renewed vigour and create a nation where both accessibility and equality prevail.”
This day is celebrated annually to enhance the way of life of persons with disabilities and to encourage them.
It aims to promote an understandingof disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity rights and well being of persons with disabilities.
It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
