Kejriwal turned Delhi into devious political arena: Manoj Tiwari

New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) The BJP on Friday attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and called him a dramatist claiming that he has turned Delhi into a devious political arena.

"Kejriwal is a political dramatist. No one knows what new drama he will enact. Kejriwal has turned Delhi into a devious political arena," Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit chief Manoj Tiwari told reporters here.

Criticising the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor for not maintaining cordial relations with Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung during his tenure, Tiwari said: "Today, after Jung's resignation, Kejriwal went to meet him showing quality etiquette while all through in his working relation with Jung, he never showed any such courtesy."

"The conflict which he started with the L-G around Republic Day celebrations of 2014 continued throughout the President's Rule," Tiwari, who also represents the northeast constituency of Delhi, said.

"After re-establishment of AAP government in early 2015, the conflict took an ugly turn clearly indicating that Kejriwal's conflict with Jung was not based on principles but was inspired by personal reasons," the BJP leader said.

Tiwari said Kejriwal wanted the "Lt. Governor to succumb to his obstinate attitude and allow misuse of administrative machinery for political growth".

"But Jung, during the last two-and-half years, tried his best to protect constitutional arrangements which resulted in repeated clashes between Kejriwal and the Lt. Governor," he said.

Asked about Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken's allegations of a deal behind the Lt. Governor's resignation, Tiwari said: "All through the UPA regime between 2004 to 2014, Congress leaders indulged in deals from Coal and 2G to administrative appointments."

"And because of this they see a deal behind everything that happens in government," Tiwari said.

"It will be better if Congress leaders understand that in BJP rule there are no deals, we believe in giving good governance to people," he added.
