New Delhi, Thu, 15 Dec 2016 NI Wire

Japanese company Panasonic rolled out the next model in its P-series of phones on Wednesday. Named as P88 the phone is LED Flash enabled and will be available at a price of Rs. 9,290.

The launch by the company comes shortly after the unveiling of Eluga Prim that took place only last week. The earlier model was priced higher and had different features. The phone would be competing against the already popular phones by Chinese majors Xiaomi and Lenovo, who have made their foothold in the market by offering decently superior phones in the budgeted range.

Flaunting a 5.3-inch HD display of 720x1280 pixels with IPS (in-plane switching technology) panel, the device comes with 2.5D curved. Ditching the use of popular Gorilla glasses for protection, the company has embedded the glasses from Asahi, the Japanese specialist glass manufacturers. The Smartphone is encased in a metal body giving it the much needed robustness and elegant look.

The most prominent feature of the phone would perhaps be its rear camera of 13- megapixel, which is pre-loaded with triple LED flash module that makes it quite desirable. There is single LED-flash enablement for the front camera too, which has a resolution of 5 megapixels. Therefore, the selfie snapper of the phone is substantially good for users who prefer quality selfie phones below Rs. 10,000.

Speaking on behalf of Panasonic India, Pankaj Rana, Business Head - Mobility Division of the electronic giant said, “With the year drawing to a close, the P88 is an affordable 4G Smartphone offering for the Indian market”. Previewing the new launch, he further added, “In a first for Panasonic Smartphones, the phone comes with a front LED flash for the selfie lovers. The phone also comes with an anti-dust receiver to help maintain the phone for longer periods of time. We continue our endeavour to offer differentiated product offerings to our customers”.

Panasonic P88 uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the operating software and it comes with the Android for Work security features. The device is powered by 1.2 GHz Quad Core Processor for computing strength and it comes pre-bundled with 2 GB RAM storage. The inbuilt storage of 16 GB, that it is loaded with, can be expanded to 128 GB via microSD.

The removable battery inside the phone is capacitated with 2600 mAh of charge holding strength, which is not very high and not very low. Pre-bundled with two slots for SIM (both allowing GSM SIM cards), the phone is both 3G and 4G enabled. Lt also boasts of VoLTE support and has connectivity options like FM radio, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

Three sensors viz. Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Ambient Light Sensor are incorporated in the model for better user experience. The phone weighing 156 grams is measures 8.35mm in thickness and is available in Gold and Charcoal Grey tints.

In general view, Panasonic P88 is a modestly affordable phone for the Smartphone consumers looking for standard specifications. However, given the other options available in the market with similar features, it seems a bit pricey.
