Delhi saves Rs 12 crore on construction of flyover

Delhi,National,Politics, Thu, 24 Nov 2016 IANS

New Delhi, Nov 24 (IANS) The Delhi government on Thursday claimed to have saved around Rs 12 crore on construction of a six-lane flyover at Mukundpur Chowk on Outer Ring Road in th capital city.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will inaugurate the flyover for public use on Friday, a government statement said.

It added that the sanctioned cost of the 900-metre-long flyover was Rs 62 crore while it was completed at a cost of approximately Rs 50 crore.

Construction on the project had started in November 2013.

The government said that all traffic on NH-1, including inter-state pubic and commercial vehicles, will benefit from the new flyover.

"Smooth and uninterrupted movement of traffic on this intersection would save emission of at least 4,975 tonnes of carbon dioxide per day -- 2.29 lakh trees would be required to absorb this much amount of carbon dioxide under normal conditions," it added.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said earlier this year that the government had saved over Rs 350 crore in building five flyovers across the national capital since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took charge in February 2015.
