New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel on Friday congratulated the newly-appointed International Hockey Federation (FIH) President Narinder Batra.
Batra, who was an Executive Board Member of FIH as well as the Vice-President of the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF), has succeeded Leandro Negre for a four-year term at the helm.
"Vijay Goel has congratulated Narinder Batra on his election as the new President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH)," the Sports Ministry said in a statement.
"In a message, Goel expressed the hope that under Shri Batra number of hockey playing nations in the world will increase and hockey will regain place of prominence in the international arena," the statement added.
