DAC clears blacklisting policy, no decision on US-2 planes

New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS) The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, on Monday cleared the blacklisting policy for banning or suspension of entities, and also cleared proposals worth Rs 82,117 crore.

The issue of US-2 amphibious planes came up for discussion, but no decision was taken, sources said.

The DAC for the first time cleared two proposals under the Indigenous Design Development and Manufacturing (IDDM) category for Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and Light Combat Helicopters (LCH).

The proposals cleared include an AON (Acceptance of Necessity) for 83 LCAs at a cost of Rs 50,025 crore for the Indian Air Force (IAF) while 15 LCHs - 10 for IAF and five for the Indian Army - will be bought for Rs 2,911 crore.
