Nine arrested Legia Warsaw fans freed in Madrid, with travel ban

Madrid, Oct 20 (IANS) Nine of the 13 Legia Warsaw fans, who were arrested for incidents caused during their stay here to watch the Champions League football match against Real Madrid, have been released after testifying before the court, but they cannot leave Spain until the trial.

The released are nine out of the 10 who were arrested for causing altercations on Tuesday, while the three others who have beaten and robbed bar waitresses in the district of Latina in Madrid on the night before the game will likely appear before court on Thursday, reports Efe.

Although the nine were released, the authorities confiscated their passports and banned then from leaving the Spain until the trial.

In the incidents caused by the fans, 12 people were injured, including three policemen.

Madrid beat Warsaw 5-1 in the match on Tuesday.
