Two B.Tech students killed, three injured in accident in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS) Two B.Tech students from Chandigarh were killed and three were critically injured after their car collided with a divider at ITO here, police said on Monday.

The police said the deceased were identified as Anand and Aayushi Goel, while the injured were identified as Monika, Subhojeet and Sagun Sharma. All were in the age group of 20-25.

The police said that the accident occurred at around 2.00 a.m. on the intervening night of October 16 and 17, when they were travelling in a car from Laxmi Nagar to Connaught Place via ITO at central district.

A passer-by informed the police about the accident.

"Police had to use gas cutter to get them out of mangled remains of the car. They all were B.Tech students in Chandigarh and had come to Delhi to attend their friend's wedding function," a Senior Police officer said.

A case was registered in I.P. Estate Police Station. The police are waiting for their medical report to determine if they consumed alcohol, the officer said.
