Modi Government cheats ex-servicemen on OROP: AAP

New Delhi, Sun, 06 Sep 2015 NI Wire

The Aam Aadmi Party expresses shock at the way Modi Government is bargaining with soldiers, who made sacrifices for the country. Nobody had ever imagined that ex-servicemen would be forced to go on fast unto death for their legitimate demands. After a long struggle by ex-servicemen, what the Modi Government finally offered today is nothing but eyewash.

Government's announcement on One-Rank-One-Pension today is disappointing. The Aam Aadmi Party agrees with the agitating ex-servicemen that one-man judicial commission cannot decided on OROP issue. The Government should constitute a five member committee with three ex-servicemen in it. The term of the committee should be one month and not six months.

Aam Aadmi Party believes that not extending the benefit of OROP to ex-servicemen opting for voluntary retirement is also unfair. More than 40 per cent of ex-servicemen fall in this category. Party also demands that the Government should agree to annual revision instead of revision after five years as announced today.

Aam Aadmi Party fully supports agitating ex-servicemen's demands, but urges them to end their fast unto death. They are dealing with an insensitive government, which does not care about them and their well being. But their life is too precious for the country. They should continue with their agitation, but should end their fast.
