Lokayukta, Onion & College Transfer issues expose Delhi Government: BJP

New Delhi, Sat, 22 Aug 2015 NI Wire

New Delhi, August 22nd: Delhi Pradesh BJP President Shri Satish Upadhyay has said that administrative failure of Kejriwal Government today stands completely exposed. Three incidents all related to administrative decision making coming out yesterday have brought out Delhi Government's total incompetence.

A few days ago Delhi Government announced the decision of appointing former Chief Justice Shri A.P. Shah as Lokayukta of Delhi. At that very stage the decision got embroiled in a controversy when it came out that the Delhi Government has not consulted Leader of the Opposition nor taken approval of the Lt. Governor of Delhi. Now with Justice Shri A.P. Shah's public announcement of refusal to accept the appointment yesterday it is apparent that Delhi Government dealt the matter most immaturely and did not obtain the consent of Justice Shah before making announcement of his name. Delhi Government's administrative negligence has dented the high prestige of the office of Lokayukta.

Shri Upadhyay has said that Delhi Government which has failed to control the black marketing of onion yesterday again took an administratively wrong decision of announcing that people should avoid buying more than one KG of Onion. This immature announcement of Kejrwal Government has overnight created an atmosphere conducive to shortage of Onions favouring both the black marketers & small vendors helping them today raise the retail Onion prices to 80-90 a Kg from 60-70 a Kg on Friday.

Delhi Government yesterday announced transfer of Delhi University affiliated 12 colleges to the Ambedkar University which is being protested by both the students and teachers fraternity. Shri Upadhyay has said that the Delhi Government's announcement is most unacceptable and childish. All universities are important but over a period of time certain universities have created repute about themselves and Delhi University is one such. The 12 colleges whose transfer Kejriwal Government has proposed, are those where entrance requires a very high percentage and students have to compete to reach there. The talk of transferring the colleges amounts to playing with the academic and competitive careers of the students. Shri Upadhyay has said that BJP strongly protests and we will not allow this transfer to happen. The Government may open new colleges and put them under the Ambedkar University.
